After more than four months since the outbreak of the pandemic, the total number of Filipinos abroad who recovered from COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) is now 5,101 as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reports seven new confirmed cases,10 new recoveries and two new fatalities on Tuesday.
All the new COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos, including the new recoveries and new deaths, were recorded from Asia and the Pacific and the Middle East and African regions.
The number of countries with confirmed COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos also went up to 60 with one new country in Africa being added to the list.
To date, the total number of confirmed cases among Filipinos abroad is 8,474, of which 2,824 are undergoing treatment, 5,101 have recovered and 549 succumbed to the disease.
Also on Tuesday, the Philippine Embassy in Muscat reported that nine Filipinos have been infected with COVID-19, five of them are in the intensive care units while the rest are recuperating.
Ambassador Narciso Castañeda also confirmed that one Filipino died from severe COVID-19 infection.
Meanwhile, a group of 237 Filipino crewmembers and stranded Filipinos in Germany and other countries in the EU region were repatriated early this week via a chartered Condor Airlines flight from Hamburg, Germany.
Philippine Ambassador to Germany Ma.Theresa Dizon-De Vega led the send-off of the Filipino repatriates at the airport in Hamburg along with German Ambassador to the Philippines Anke Reiffenstuel and other members of the German Embassy in Manila.
