The Office of the Vice President has launched a fund drive for families affected by Typhoon “Usman.”

Starting the year right, Vice President Leni Robredo’s office called for donations, along with Operation Compassion Philippines, to help typhoon victims.

“Nangangalap ng cash donations ang OVP, kasama ang Operation Compassion Philippines, para sa ating mga kababayan na nasalanta ng bagyong #UsmanPH,” she said in her official Facebook account.

(Swift Code: BOPIPHMM)

The OVP has already started its relief operations on New Year’s Eve to help affected families in tyhoon-stricken areas.

Robredo was grateful to Angat Buhay partners and volunteers for joining the cause.

“Special shoutout to our Angat Buhay partner, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints-Naga, Philippine Stake, and our volunteers for giving up their New Year’s Eve to give way to our Typhoon Usman Relief Operations,” she said in another Facebook post.

The OVP, through its flagship anti-poverty program Angat Buhay, responds and provides relief and rehabilitation services to Filipinos affected by typhoons and other calamities.

Since its inception in October 2016, the program was able to extend assistance worth P85.6 million for disaster relief and rehabilitation.

Just last year, the OVP provided relief and rehabilitation services amounting to P35 million to typhoon victims, including relief packs worth P9.8 million for those affected by Typhoon Ompong in Nueva Ecija, Mountain Province, Benguet, Cagayan, Bulacan, La Union, and Pangasinan.
