Friday markets: Peso-dollar rate at P50.16; stocks drop

The peso and stock market ended the trading week in opposite directions, Friday, March 31.

The Philippine peso–US dollar exchange rate at the Philippine Dealing and Exchange Corporation (PDEX) closed at P50.16, stronger than Thursday’s (March 30) rate at 50.20.

At the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reference exchange rate bulletin, the exchange rate settled on P50.19 to the greenback.

The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi), meanwhile, declined by 20.87 points (0.29%) to close at 7,311.72.

The all-shares index also decreased by 11.94 points (0.27%) at 4,399.71.
