The feast day of Our Lady of Piat, the venerated patroness of Cagayan Valley will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 1.

Holy masses in honor of the Mother of Cagayan are traditionally held at the Basilica Minore de Piat in Tuguegarao, Cagayan. The basilica is considered as one of the top ten Marian pilgrimage sites in the country. It receives hundreds of visitors every year.

The celebration for the feast of Our Lady of Piat, which might have to be deferred this year due to the pandemic, is considered as one of the longest Marian feast days. Two celebrations are usually held, the Sambuli Festival from June 23 to June 30, and the actual feast day on July 1 to 2.

In Metro Manila, Our Lady of Piat devotees, following a 43-year-old tradition, traditionally gather for a special commemorative mass at the Santo Domingo Church on Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

Devotion to the miraculous Our Lady of Piat began in 1604 when the Dominican missionaries brought the image from Macau to Cagayan Valley and has since spread across the country.
