Four feast masses will be celebrated on Monday, June 29, at the Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Poblacion, Makati City, in solemn observance of the joint feast day of the pillars of the Catholic Church – Saints Peter and Paul, traditionally celebrated by the Roman Catholic Church as Pope’s Day.

The Holy Masses, which will be streamed live, will be held at 6 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., and 6 p.m. At the church, only a limited number of parishioners will be allowed entrance to observe physical distancing: 10 inside the church, 8 persons at the chapel, and 21 at the church yard. The elderly are strongly advised to join the Eucharistic celebration online.

Church rites today will include prayers for the intentions of the Holy Father Pope Francis.

“The observance of Pope’s Day in celebration of the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul seeks to intensify the faithful’s understanding of the Church’s teachings and to have full appreciation of the spiritual leadership of the Catholic Church’s leader and Vicar of Christ,” Church officials said.

Saint Peter was the first Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, while Saint Paul is considered to this day as the greatest missionary of all time.
