Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año said they will send home the LSIs altogether once the 14-day suspension on the return of LSIs in Region 8 has been lifted.

“Iipunin na lang muna natin at ibubulto na lang natin iyong pag hatid sa kanila after nitong suspension [We will gather them, and we will send them home altogether once the suspension is lifted],” Ano told DZMM radio.

“More or less, gagamit tayo ng malalaking barko para isang hatiran na iko-coordinate sa atin ng mga LGUs (local government units) [More or less we will use large ships for the LGU-coordinated mass transport],” Ano added.

Initially, the government has already scheduled a mass transport of LSIs on July 4. Those bound for Region 8 will not be included in the trip.

Año urged LSIs to not flock to airports and seaports especially if they don’t have confirmed trips.

“Malalagay lang kayo sa inconvenient na kalagayan [You will just put yourselves in an inconvenient situation],” Año said.

The DILG secretary assured the LSIs that the government will continuously provide transportation for them to be able to go home.
