Some 17 out of 27 workers from a now locked-down construction site in Taguig have tested positive for COVID-19.

The unnamed construction site at Bonifacio Global City (BGC) has been placed on a two-week lockdown, while the 10 remaining workers are considered suspected COVID-19 cases.

“The health and welfare of the employees in the quarantine site will be closely monitored, and no one will be allowed to enter or leave the construction site,” Taguig Safe City Task Force said in an advisory.

It added that during the localized lockdown, the Taguig Police and BGC marshalls will cordon off and secure the sites.

The Task Force said the health and living conditions of the workers will be monitored regularly, and the assistance of the city government’s emergency health response team will be “readily available” to attend to the quarantined construction workers.

Last week, the city government placed Purok 4, 5, and 6 in Barangay Lower Bicutan under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until July 1, due to rising number of COVID-19 cases in the area.
