Rep. Duterte strongly bats for scholarship, educational grants for public school teachers, their kids

House Deputy Speaker and Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte moved strongly for the passage of a bill that will grant scholarship and educational assistance to public school teachers and their children.

Together with ACT CIS Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap, Duterte filed House Bill 7012, the “Scholarship and Educational Grants to Public School Teachers and their Children Act.”

Yap and Duterte said the bill proposes to offer scholarship grants to teachers to enrol in graduate and post-graduate studies to better improve their craft.

Under the bill, teachers availing themselves of the scholarship grant may also apply for similar scholarships for their children in state universities and colleges (SUCs).

Yap, chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, said teachers have shown their dedication in educating students in the country notwithstanding the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic.

The administration solon said the bill has been referred to the Committee on Higher Education.

“We are striving to lift the social and economic burden from our teachers by granting them with opportunities to cultivate their expertise in a specialized area of study and by providing their children in tertiary education with educational assistance,” explained Duterte, eldest of President Duterte.

He added: “Rest assured that we are looking into more ways to uplift the lives of our teachers to show our gratitude and appreciation for their hard work.”
