“Sa mga nagtatanong kung ano ang gusto kong regalo, bumili na lang po kayo ng grocery food pack at ipamigay sa nangangailangan (For those asking what gift I want for my birthday, just purchase grocery packs that we could distribute to those in need),” he said when asked by residents what he wants for his birthday.

The donations, according to Sotto, could be dropped off at the Mayor’s Office in the Pasig City Hall.

He said the grocery packs would really help needy families to cope with the effects of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

The mayor also appealed to his friends not to throw any celebration or surprise party for him, stressing that mass gathering is still prohibited, even during general community quarantine (GCQ).

“Pakiusap na wala munang celebration o surprise party. Hindi naman ako mahilig sa party at higit pa rito, bawal pa ang mga mass gathering. Buhay na buhay pa si Covid, mga kaibigan! (Please do not throw any surprise party or celebration for me. Parties are not my thing. Besides, mass gathering is still not allowed. COVID-19 remains very much alive),” he said.

Sotto thanked all the people who took time to greet him on his 31st birthday.

As of June 16, 2020, Pasig City has 710 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 389 recoveries, and 77 deaths.

Based on the city’s data, the village with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is Barangay Pinagbuhatan with 96 patients. The same barangay has also the most number of recoveries at 53.
