Brig. Gen. Dennis Agustin, director of the PNP-Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), said Kinha Joyce Capeles and her employer Daphne Vergara-Igdanes are believed to have collected some P1.2 million from their victims.

Agustin said the modus of the suspects is they would promise the immediate delivery of surgical masks but would not do so after the payment has been made.

Capeles was caught in an entrapment in Garcia Heights in Bajada in Davao City over the weekend. Seized from her were the marked and boodle money and several boxes of face masks.

Charges of estafa in relation to Cybercrime Prevention Act were immediately filed against Capeles and Igdanes.

The scarcity of supply of face masks and other medical supplies has prompted some people to buy them online.
