DOST starts using 'SafePass' for returning personnel

As more people return to work at their offices lately, there is a need to ensure compliance to measures that will curb the impact of COVID-19 in the workplace.

The DOST, in collaboration with an ICT-based technology company UNAWA, started using a system called "SafePass" in two facilities – the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) in Quezon City and the Advanced Device and Materials Testing Laboratory (ADMATEL) of DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) in Bicutan, Taguig City.

The SafePass is an all-digital, contact-free authorizing, scheduling, and contract tracing solution to help offices and businesses operate safely amid the COVID-19 crisis.

"Parang kadugtong ito noong Rapidpass...kung ating matatandaan ang DOST in collaboration with a private volunteer partner iyong DEVCONNECT Philippines Inc., ay nagdevelop ng sistema yung Rapidpass na gumagamit ng mga QR Codes para sa mga checkpoints," DOST Secretary Fortunato Dela Pena said.

(It's like a continuation of Rapidpass...it can be remembered that DOST collaborated with a private volunteer partner DEVCONNECT Philippines Inc., to develop Rapidpass that utilizes QR codes for checkpoints.)

It can be used to plan and manage space capacity and people’s schedule to allow Safe Distancing during operating hours. It allows collection of information on COVID-19 symptoms, recent exposure to COVID-19 patients or travel.

"Kasi nga nagbabalikan na tayo sa ating mga opisina papaano natin masisiguro na yung ating mga taong pumapasok dyan whether employees or clientele ay nasa tamang kondisyon ng katawan. Siyempre checheck mo yung temperature niyan magfifillup ng some answers to questions but this can be done more efficiently through SafePass."

(Most of us are returning to offices so how can we ensure that the people whether employees or clientele are in good health. Of course we would check the temperature and they will answer some questions but this can be done more efficiently through SafePass.)

SafePass also helps in managing efforts to make Contract Tracing and Incident Management more efficient. It is planned to be utilized in the entire DOST system.

Dela Pena said that they will distribute it little by little and can be used in malls, banks and other offices.
