Senators on Independence Day, Friday, reminded the public of the sacrifices of Filipino heroes in fighting for the freedom of the Philippines and the people’s rights.
We should value the sacrifices of our fallen heroes and show our love for the country by helping those in need),” Senator Sherwin Gatchalian said on Twitter.
Senator Joel Villanueva said Filipino owe to the brave heroes the independence and the democracy that the people are now enjoying.
More than thanking them, it is our responsibility to continue to fight for these and uphold it, and at the same time, push for equal opportunities and dignity for everyone),” he added.
Sen. Cynthia Villar also joined her colleagues in the majority in honoring those who fought for the country’s independence.
We are forever grateful to our heroes and our countrymen who sacrificed and risk their lives for the independence of our beloved country),” she said.
Sen. Sonny Angara, meanwhile, said he wishes for the country to be freed from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The senators likewise paid tribute to frontliners who have been battling the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Pagpupugay sa lahat ng magigiting na Pilipinong lumalaban sa pandemiyang ito nang may tapang at wagas na pagmamahal sa bayan,” Sen Grace Poe also posted on social media.
Sens. Nancy Binay said she is one with Filipinos in celebrating the Independence Day.
