DAVAO CITY - The Island Garden City of Samal Inter-Agency Task Force (Samal-IATF) for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) announced on Thursday, June 11, that all beach resorts and other accommodation establishments in the island will resume operation on July 1.

This was announced by the Samal-IATF in its official Facebook page, and said the reopening of the resorts and other forms of accommodation in Samal will also require a Certificate of Authority to Operate from the Department of Tourism (DOT).

DOT Section 4 Administrative Order No.2020-002 states that all accommodation establishments that intend to commence commercial operations in community quarantine zones, whether for guests or operation of in-house food facilities for take-out, shall secure a certificate to operate.

Samal-IATF said that any violation to the DOT orders shall be a ground for the revocation of business permit, as the local government adheres to the safety guidelines for the safety of the public, as well.

It added that the order shall take effect immediately and shall remain effective until a community quarantine is no longer in effect, or until otherwise superseded, amended, or repealed accordingly.
