These facilities will later serve as Covid-19 rapid testing centers for individuals who would be crossing the border in all the 12 checkpoints strategically positioned within the boundaries of the province.

Architech Ronan Bariuan, the one in charge in the project, disclosed that the container vans are about 20 to 40 feet big.

“One of these containers is nearing completion and will soon be installed at Barangay Namabbalan, Tuguegarao City checkpoint. We just have to install its water system and electrical connections,” said Bariuan.

Bariuan said the others will soon be of service, especially now that the province is in its third phase under General Community Quarantine and Cagayanos started coming home to their province.

Each container van will have a small office, a testing area, small kitchen, two portable comfort rooms and sleeping quarters.

Accordingly, 10 of the 17 container vans were donated by the First Cagayan Leisure Corporation.

In lieu of this, the provincial government has alloted P7.9 million to finance the project using the One time Bayanihan Grant Fund by the national government which is close to 110.9 million.
