MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago on Sunday announced that the modified number coding scheme, which was planned to take effect on June 8, will not yet be implemented "until further notice."

"No coding next week," Pialago said.

She said that MMDA opted to postpone the implementation of the modified number coding, because of the limited number of public transportation.

“We have many commuters having a hard time getting a ride so we decided to defer it,” Pialago explained.

Under the modified coding scheme guidelines, the MMDA said private vehicles are exempted from the number coding scheme as long as they carry a maximum of two or more passengers including the driver.

The modification on the number coding scheme, according to MMDA, is in line with the MMDA Regulation No. 2020-001, Series of 2020, made by the National Capital Region mayors on May 26, 2020 which specified the said conditions. (With reports from MB Online)
