BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjamin Magalong reported that the city’s 36th coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patient was the younger brother of nurse John Delinger Batulan, who was the 35th patient diagnosed last June 2.
Magalong thanked the brothers for their bravery and cooperation in making their identities public.
Jeffrey Batulan, 32, lives in South Central Aurora Hill and as part of the protocol, he underwent swab test after John, 38, was found to be positive of the virus last June 2.
Jeffrey’s result came out last June 4.
While he was asymptomatic, Jeffrey said he did not have any contact outside of his family after John’s diagnosis.
But he recalled having visited Baguio General Hospital to follow up on his application as nurse attendant. He also went to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), the family’s market stall at the hangar section, and the house of a store owner in their barangay, all on June 1.
In all of those instances, he said he was wearing a face mask and observing the distancing rule.
While contact tracing teams have started identifying and isolating his contacts, Jeffrey, like his brother, agreed to identify himself to alert those he may have infected.
Contacts should undergo self-quarantine and get in touch with the nearest health facility.
