CEBU CITY — Six more policemen here tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Police Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7), said the six policemen, who belong to the Cebu City Police Office (CPPO), have already been isolated in a quarantine facility.
While there were already 19 COVID-19 cases involving CCPO personnel, Ferro announced that 17 policemen have nevertheless been tested negative for the virus based on their first swab tests.
The 17 policemen were among the 35 infected law enforcers sent to a recovery center in Barangay Taptap, Cebu City.
“There will be a second swab test and if it yields negative results, they will be considered recovered patients,” said Ferro.
Ferro said the six new infected personnel contracted the virus from arrested drug suspects.
“They experienced fever but their conditions have improved. After 14 days, they will be tested again and it will then be decided if they will be brought to the recovery center to continue their medication,” said Ferro.
Ferro said the Regional Health Service continues to monitor the health of the policemen especially those who are having fever but do not swab testing yet.
