2 returning OFWs in Eastern Visayas confirmed COVID-19 positive

Two returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Eastern Visayas tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Department of Health Regional Office 8 (DOH-8) based in Palo, Leyte confirmed on Wednesday, June 3.

DOH-8 Director Dr. Minerva Molon said that the two cases have been added to the records in Eastern Visayas. With this, the region now has 47 COVID-19 positive cases.

Molon said that patient EV-46 is a 29-year-old female, a returning seafarer from Tacloban City who arrived last June 1 via chartered plane.

“The patient is currently on strict isolation,” Molon said.

She added that this is the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Tacloban City.

On the other hand, Molon said patient EV-47 is a 27-year-old male, from Tolosa, Leyte. She added that the patient arrived in Tacloban City last May 25 via a commercial flight. The patient is also placed in strict isolation, she added.

Patient EV-47 is the second confirmed COVID-19 positive case in the municipality of Tolosa.
