The Bulacan governor said he summoned the officials of the NIA in the province to shed light on the alleged inferior quality of materials that were used in the rehabilitation of the Bustos Dam.

He said during the time of the Bustos Dam's rehabilitation bidding, he was the province's vice governor, and recalled that NIA and its contractor had assured that the materials to be used for the rubber gates will be made in Japan or Germany, and not from China.

Fernando said this was the reason why he believed in the expose made by Vice Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado a few days ago about the alleged anomalies in the rehabilitation of Bustom Dam.

It could be recalled that, in a recent privileged speech of Vice Governor Sy-Alvarado before the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bulacan, he revealed that a rubber gate that was used in the dam's rehabilitation was of low quality.

Alvarado warned that the low-quality materials used in the rehabilitation of the Bustos Dam could lead to a catastrophe that may submerge the towns of Bustos, Baliuag, Plaridel, Pandi, Bocaue, Guiguinto, Balagtas, Bulakan, Malolos, Calumpit and Hagonoy during the rainy season.
