12 more overseas Filipinos afflicted by COVID-19

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday confirmed five new deaths and 12 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections among Filipinos in three major geographical regions worldwide.

With the new cases, the DFA puts the total number of overseas Filipinos afflicted by COVID-19 at 5,230.

The total number of Filipinos who have recovered from the disease is 2,166, while the number of fatalities is at 347.

“Based on the latest figures, Middle East and Europe still have the highest number of recorded Filipinos infected with COVID-19. Asia and the Pacific has fewest number of cases and highest in recoveries, followed by Europe, while the Americas still has the highest number of fatalities followed by Middle East,” the DFA noted in its report.

Of the regions, the Middle East and Africa have a total of 3,258 confirmed cases, 105 deaths, 1,835 live cases, and 1,318 recoveries.

In Europe, the total number of cases is 821 with 90 deaths, 472 live cases, and 259 recoveries.

The Americas have a total of 656 cases, 150 deaths, 276 live cases, and 230 recoveries.

In the Asia-Pacific, the total number of cases is 495, with 134 live cases, 359 recoveries, and two deaths.
