Health worker latest COVID-19 case in Silang, Cavite

IMUS CITY, Cavite – A health worker was listed as the 12th confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) positive patient in Silang, Cavite, municipal authorities reported on Sunday, May 31.

The number of positive cases in neighboring Dasmariñas City was observed increasing as the local government reported a total of 58 cases in the area lately.

Dasmariñas, Cavite’s most populated area, is on second spot in terms of positive case number in the province after Bacoor City which has 119 cases.

Silang Mayor Socorro Rosario “Corie” F. Poblete identified the latest COVID-19 patient in her jurisdiction as a 30-year-old Filipino health care aide from Barangay Sabutan.

Poblete, citing a report from the municipal health office, reported that Patient No. 12 was in stable condition, and has been placed in isolation.

The local chief executive said that actions have already been taken, including contact-tracing, with the reported case.

Silang is in fifth district or the so-called CarSiGMA (Carmona-Silang-General Mariano Alvarez (GMA) area of this province. It is a first class municipality with 64 barangays (villages) and a population of 248,085, as per 2015 census.

The fast-progressing municipality, home of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Academy and the International Institute of Reconstruction main office, is in the eastern-south section of Cavite province.

The Silang government called on its citizens to be vigilant against COVID-19, and observe social or safe distancing and the other rules under the general community quarantine (GCQ).

The local health office reported, that as 3 p.m., Saturday, May 29, Silang had seven reported case recoveries, two deaths and two probable and 19 suspect cases.
