The local government of Navotas City has extended the deadlines for the payment of tax and registration of private and public utility vehicles (PUV) in the city.

Through the passing of Ordinance No. 2020-25, the deadline for the payment of the first installment of basic real property tax, special education fund tax or idle land tax due on real properties has been extended from March 31, 2020 to June 30, 2020.

Likewise, the second quarterly installment of business taxes due on April 20, 2020 may be paid until July 31, 2020 while the payment for the third quarter may be settled until September 30, 2020, according to the ordinance.

Mayor Tobias Tiangco said that the city council came up with the measure as they "understand that the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the financial capacity of business and property owners."

"We hope that once the quarantine has been lifted, they will be able to get back on their feet and resume operations,” he said.

On the other hand, Ordinance No. 2020-26 has also moved the registration deadline for motorized tricycles and pedicabs with plate or sticker numbers ending in 7, 8, 9 and 0 from March to July 31, 2020.

Renewal of regulatory stickers for public utility jeeps with plate numbers ending in 3 and 4 may be done until July 31, 2020, the ordinance read, while those ending in 5, 6 and 7 may be renewed until August 31, 2020.

Further, Ordinance No. 2020-27 has allowed the extension of the deadline fo private motorized tricycles and pedicabs owners in order to secure registration plates, from March 31, 2020 to July 31, 2020.
