In the wake of the on-going modified enhanced community quarantine in Bulacan, the widely popular Fertility Fiesta in Obando was celebrated online this year.
The Misa Mayor (high masses) for the three-day celebration on May 17-19 were led by Malolos Bishop Dennis C. Villarojo, Kalookan Bishop Emeritus Deogracias Iñiguez, and Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Teodoro Bacani, Jr.
In his message, parish priest Rev. Fr. Virgilio Ramos of Obando Church, also known as the San Pascual Baylon Parish, urged the faithful devotees of the town’s three patron saints “to feel thankful as you reminisce the times that you visited the Church, joined the celebration, and received blessings from the good Lord who granted your petitions,” he said.
No street dance procession in honor of Santa Clara, the patron saint of childless couples, was held this year. Mass attendees were also kept to a minimum.
The Obando Church is also known as the Diocesan Shrine of Nuesta Señora de la Immaculada Concepcion de Salambao, the patron saint of farmers and fishermen. The other town patron saints are Santa Clara (St. Claire of Assisi) and San Pascual Baylon, the patron saint of those looking for a life partner and vocation to the religious life.
