The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has decided to use the StaySafe.ph mobile application in the contact tracing of persons who may have been possibly infected with the deadly 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
NBI Deputy Director Ferdinand Lavin revealed this on Saturday, May 16, as the Bureau shelved plans to use Singapore’s TraceTogether mobile application.
“We will be adopting the StaySafe.ph,” said the NBI spokesman.
Lavin explained the NBI decided to use StaySafe.ph because it has already been approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID)
“The IATF recommended and approved the use of StaySafe.ph,” the spokesman said.
“StaySafe.PH empowers the public in the fight against COVID-19 by enabling people to report their health condition and facilitate the Government in contact tracing. By aggregating all reports, StaySafe.PH enables the Government to immediately respond to peoples’ needs and make informed and timely decisions to keep Filipinos safe in the midst of this pandemic,” read the StaySafe.ph website.
“StaySafe.PH is a project of the Interagency Task Force (IATF-EID) on Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and National Task Force (NTF) on COVID-19. The NTF is the Data Controller. Multisys Technologies Corporation as the developer of the website is the Data Processor,” it added.
It explained StaySafe.ph is community-driven contact tracing, health condition reporting and social distancing system.
Users can use SafeSafe.ph to report the health conditions of the person and members of his or her family.
Users will also be notified areas were there are persons who are positive, probable or suspected with COVID-19.
It also contains health tips and instructions from healthcare professionals on what to do when persons experience symptoms of COVID-19.
