CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The joint efforts of the Caraga Police Regional Office 13 (PRO-13), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 13 (PDEA-13) led to the confiscation of P590,000-worth of shabu from a suspect in Barangay Victoria, Tago town in Surigao del Sur on Tuesday, May 12.

PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr. identified the drug suspect as Brando I. Gomez, 26 and resident of Barangay Sta. Cruz, Marihatag town in the same province.

Authorities confiscated during the operation two transparent sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” weighing around 50 grams with Dangerous Drug Board value of P590,000, and several drug paraphernalia from his possession, the region’s top cop said.

The joint operation was launched by PDEA RO13, Tago Municipal Police Station, Surigao del Sur Provincial Intelligence Branch, and Regional Intelligence Division 13 around 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday, he said.

The suspect will be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He is placed under the custody of PDEA Caraga.

“We will make sure that individuals who continue on pouring illegal drugs to the market through various channels will fail,” the top police official in Caraga said.

“The long arm of the law shall bring them behind bars even if we are confronted by the threats posed by coronavirus disease 2019,” Esquivel, Jr added.
