QC: No COVID-19 deaths for second consecutive day

For the second straight day, there were no deaths from COVID-19 death toll in Quezon City as the tally remained at 132 as of May 7, the Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) said.

In the same QCHD report, the number of new recoveries were 33, bringing the total to 325 from the previous 292.

As of 7 p.m. of May 7, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,512 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Quezon City, up by 48 from the last tally of 1,464.

As in past tallies, the total number of validated COVID-19 cases of the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QCESU) and District Health Offices differed from the DOH number as it stood at 1,128, increasing the total by 26 from the previous 1,102.

In the same QCHD statistics, the total number of confirmed cases with complete addresses in Quezon City rose from 1,324 to 1,385 for a difference of 61.

From 678, the active COVID-19 cases, referring to those who have not fully recovered, fell to 671, plunging by 7.

Extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ)

Mayor Joy Belmonte said the city government implements the EECQ in barangays with two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases and in various streets and/or in congested urban poor areas where fast transmission is most likely to occur.

However, Belmonte said this will still be subjected to daily review depending on the number of cases/recoveries.

She noted the newly reported barangays with two cases have not yet been included in the list as they are still subjected to validation.

As of 7 p.m. of May 7, the Quezon City has EECQ in the following barangays:

Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, Tatalon, Batasan Hills, Pasong Tamo, Central, San Roque, Paligsahan, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, South Triangle, Culiat, Bahay Toro, E. Rodriguez, San Isidro Labrador, Matandang Balara, Teachers Village West, Manresa, Paltok, Sto. Domingo, Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Payatas, Marilag, Socorro, Kamuning, Pinyahan, San Isidro Galas, Commonwealth, Pansol, North Fairview, Novaliches Proper, and New Era.

Hope 1 facility

As of May 7, Hope 1 has 10 available rooms for COVID-19 confirmed patients and those suspected to be infected. There are 23 confirmed patients and 8 suspected patients currently confined in the facility.

Hope 2 facility

Currently, 102 rooms/beds are occupied by confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients, with 182 beds still available.

Those who have been tested in the city’s community-based testing centers are brought to Hope 2 for self-isolation while waiting for their results.

Community-based testing service

On May 7, a total of 203 tests were conducted in the community-based testing centers and local government hospitals and by the QCESU.

Of the 203 tests, 11 were done in Quezon City General Hospital, 1 in Novaliches District Hospital, 3 in Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, 4 at QC Experience, 12 at SB Park Novaliches, 88 at Asian Institute of Tourism, 5 at Old Balara Court, 16 at Esteban Abada Elementary School, 6 at Batasan National High School, and 57 by the QCESU.

Social Amelioration Program (SAP)

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), assisted by the city government, is distributing financial support to its residents under the social amelioration program.
