QC: No new COVID-19 deaths

There were no new COVID-19 deaths recorded in Quezon City, and the death tally remained at 132, while the number of recoveries rose to 292 from 264 as of 7 p.m.of May 6, the Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) said.

However, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases surged to 1,464, up by 125 from the previous 1,339 as reported by the Department of Health (DOH) during the same period.

As in past instances, the DOH tally differed from that of the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QCESU) and District Health Offices, which recorded 1,102 validated COVID-19 cases, up by 48 from the previous 1,054.

In the same QCHD data, the total number of confirmed cases with complete addresses in Quezon City is now at 1,324, an increase of 133 from the previous 1,324.

From 658, the active COVID-19 cases in the city, referring to those who have not fully recovered, stood at 678 for a rise of 20 as reported by the QCHD.

Extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ)

Mayor Joy Belmonte said the city government implements the EECQ in barangays with two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases and in various streets and/or in congested urban poor areas where fast transmission is most likely to occur.

However, Belmonte said this will still be subjected to daily review depending on the number of cases/recoveries.

She noted the newly reported barangays with two cases have not yet been included in the list as they are still subjected to validation.

As of 7 p.m. of May 6, the city government has enforced EECQ in the following barangays:

Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, Tatalon, Batasan Hills, Pasong Tamo, Central, San Roque, Paligsahan, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, South Triangle, Culiat, Bahay Toro, E. Rodriguez, San Isidro Labrador, Matandang Balara, Teachers Village West, Manresa, Paltok, Sto. Domingo, Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Payatas, Marilag, Socorro, Kamuning, Pinyahan, San Isidro Galas, Commonwealth, Pansol, North Fairview, Novaliches Proper, and New Era.

Hope 1 facility

As of May 6, Hope 1 houses 22 confirmed COVID-19 patients and eight suspected COVID-19 patients, with 11 rooms still available.

Hope 2 facility

In the same period, HOPE 2 has 181 beds available, as 103 confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients are confined in the facility.

Those who have been tested in QC’s community-based testing are brought to Hope 2 for self-isolation while waiting for their results.

QC community-based testing

On May 6, a total of 196 tests were conducted in the community-based testing centers and local government hospitals and by the QCESU.

Out of the 196 tests, six were done in Quezon City General Hospital, eight in Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital,, five at QC Experience, 28 at SB Park Novaliches, 52 at the Asian Institute of Tourism, 6 at Old Balara Court, 6 in Esteban Abada Elementary School, 16 in Batasan National High School, and 69 by the QCESU.

Social Amelioration Program (SAP)

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), assisted by the city government, continues to distribute the financial support to its residents under the social amelioration program.
