A total of 816 low-income families of Navotas City will benefit once the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) considers doing another round of identifying its Social Amelioration Program (SAP) beneficiaries.
Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco said that this has become possible as a total of P6.5 million cash aid has been returned by the local government to the agency after some residents waived their subsidies.
According to Tiangco, 785 individuals returned their Social Amelioration Card (SAC) form to gives slots to other residents, while 31 gave back their P8,000 cash that they already received.
Tiangco earlier gave assurance that he would request the DSWD to come up with new names of SAP beneficiaries.
“We will request for DSWD’s permission to replace the names of the beneficiaries,” he said.
As of Tuesday, May 5, there are only five more barangays out of 21 that have not conducted cash assistance distribution.
