Under GCQ mass transport system will be allowed to render services to the essential labor community.

And to curb higher risk of spreading virus, the City Public Order and Safety Coordinating Office (CPOSCO) has devised a design, which will use plastic dividers inside the jeepneys.

“Based on the guidelines of DOTr, only 50 percent of the full capacity of PUJs will be allowed with plastic dividers inside and the social distancing,” said CPOSCO officer Louie Clemente.

“We will also observe proper disinfection at terminals before loading a public utility vehicle. All these aspects will be thoroughly observed during the operation of our mass transportation” Clemente added.

Only 700 PUJs, plus 10 electronic-jeeps, will be allowed to ply the streets of this city. It will only be half the total volume of PUJs regularly operating before the time of the pandemic.

Clemente appealed to the public to patronize the local transport system once it is allowed to operate again.

“We are preparing the transport sector, to be easily utilized once the city is placed under the GCQ” Clemente noted.
