In an article for Mashable Southeast Asia, Sukhbir Cheema wrote that in tests conducted, the LightningStrike robot reportedly “ killed the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.” The robot decontaminates objects and surfaces by emitting 200 to 315 nanometers of UV light.

Created by Xenex Disinfection Services, the robot, in tests that they conducted, reportedly renders pathogens “too damaged to function” after three to five minutes of exposure to its UV lights. In just 20 minutes, Cheema wrote that the robot can kill all the germs in an entire room.

Other than COVID-19, the robot is reportedly successful in combating drug-resistant bacteria, even Ebola.
