4.8 quake jolts Antique

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Antique on Monday night (May 4), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The earthquake, which occurred at 10:12 p.m., was tectonic in origin and was traced to 14 kilometers southeast of Barbaza, Antique.

The quake had a depth of 16 km., with the following registered intensities:

Intensity III- San Jose de Buenavista, Antique

Intensity I- Lezo, Aklan

Instrumental Intensities:

Intensity III- Malay and Malinao, Aklan; Culasi and San Jose de Buenavista, Antique

Intensity II – Bago City, Negros Occidental

Intensity I – La Carlota City, Negros Occidental; Iloilo City

No aftershocks and damages are expected from the tremor.
