Man dies in Taguig City fire that leaves 30 families homeless

A man died in a fire that hit a residential area in Taguig City on Saturday afternoon amid the enhanced community quarantine.

The fatality was identified as Joharie Mopac, 30.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection – National Capital Region, the fire started at the house of Emon Mopac on Cagayan De Oro St., Maharlika Vill., Brgy. Maharlika, Taguig City.

The fire was raised to the third alarm at 1:54 p.m., declared under control at 2:16 p.m., and put out at 2:47 p.m.

Thirty families were left homeless by the blaze that razed 20 houses. Damage to property was pegged at P450,000.

The cause of the fire remains unknown as arson investigators are still probing the incident.
