DCPUI9+, an 87-year-old resident of Barangay Calmay, was the ninth PUI death reported in the city.

Dr. Ophelia Rivera, the city’s COVID-19 focal person, said the woman was brought to the R1MC on April 25, and a swab sample was taken from her the following day.

According to Rivera the patient, who had no history of travel, died because of septic shock secondary to community acquired pneumonia, high risk; COVID-19 probable; and had chronic kidney disease.

Health workers and barangays were helping each other in contact tracing among relatives and friends who she may have had interaction with.

The result of the swab test for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) detection was still pending when she expired.
