The Department of Energy assured on April 30, Thursday, that the country’s energy supply is “more than enough,” as several regions enter the third stretch of the enhanced community quartine (ECQ).

Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi said the country’s power reserve is averaging at 30 percent due to a drop in consumption.

“In Luzon, we have a 29 percent reserve. In Mindanao, 42 percent, and in Visayas something like 32 percent,” Cusi told ANC.

Cusi said the energy department was not that affected by the COVID-19 situation since they were “prepared.”

“We made sure that all generation plants, all the industry players are on the ball,” Cusi said.

Meanwhile, the energy chief said the DOE has already started preparing post-ECQ measures to make sure that the country has enough supply of power, even for years after the pandemic subsides.
