A transport group leader on Thursday said jeepneys will only board up to 10 passengers to adhere to the physical distancing measures under the new normal.
‘Di rin sasapat po ang kikitain namin,” Pasang Masda president Obet Martin said in an interview over DZMM Teleradyo.
“Kung magkaganon man, hihingi po kami ng ayuda sa ating pamahalaan sapagkat matatalo po kami sa krudo,” he said.
The transport leader appealed that jeepney drivers still need financial aid from the government under the new normal in order to sustain their needs.
Martin said they have yet to finalize the new protocols on transportation with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the Department of Transportation.
The government said it is finalizing the guidelines on the limited resumption of public transportation during the general community quarantine (GCQ), which will be implemented in some areas starting Friday.
The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has earlier recommended the resumption of public transport “but in a reduced capacity.”
