The Office of the Vice President (OVP), in partnership with the private sector, has opened its 12th free dormitory in Metro Manila for health workers and frontliners.

The newly opened dormitory is located in Malate, Manila and is accessible to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), Vice President Leni Robredo said in a Facebook post.

“Dorm No. 12 is up and ready for occupancy. It is in Malate and is near PGH,” she wrote.

Robredo said the free dorm is open to all health workers and non-medical frontliners like security guards, janitors, and volunteers for programs aiming to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The OVP and its private partners have a total of 12 dorms currently operating in Metro Manila, while four other dorms are located in Legazpi City, Albay; Mariveles, Bataan; Tacloban City, Leyte; and Baguio City.

In accordance to social distancing measures, the free service will be on a “first come, first-served” basis as the dorm’s capacity is limited.

Frontliners who are interested to avail of the dorms were advised to apply through

Last week, Robredo’s office received a donation of 10 motorcycles from Suzuki Motor Philippines that could be used by frontliners who are temporarily staying in the dormitories.
