Lung Center's medical staff safe from COVID-19 infection

The Lung Center of the Philippines on Monday said none of its personnel had tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) for almost a month.

"Dahil sa mga donations, dahil sa mga PPEs, dahil sa mga infrastructure na minodify at dahil sa procedures, for the past 29 days, walang Lung Center personnel na nag-positive," Dr. Antonio Ramos, head of the Lung Center's administrative services, said in an interview over DZMM Teleradyo.

"Iyong aming tao kahit na papaano nakakadagdag ng confidence... We should be afraid enough to be careful, but not too afraid to lose hope," he added.

Ramos said the hospital has more than 50 COVID-19 patients. Of those, only below 10 have severe symptoms and need ventilators to help them breath.

"Noong umpisa talagang nagkaroon ng mga nagkasakit na doktor and nurses so in-evaluate namin ang procedure. So napapupunan 'yun kaya 29 days," Ramos said.

The Lung Center of the Philippine said it also shared their experience with other hospitals so they can also have the kind of protection and efficient procedures for their health workers.
