DOH reports 155 new cases, no new COVID-19 deaths in QC

The number of COVID-19 deaths in Quezon City stood still at 125, but the number of cases zoomed from 1,104 to 1,259, for an increase of 155 as of 7 p.m. of April 28, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

The Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) reported 27 new recoveries, bringing the total to 182 from 155, a rise of 27 in the same period.

The number of COVID-19 validated cases by the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QCESU) and District Health Offices differed anew from the DOH tally with 888, up by 38 from the previous 850.

In the same QCHD report, the number of confirmed cases with complete addresses in Quezon City rose from 1,033 to 1,081, for a difference of 48.

The active COVID-19 cases in the city -- referring to those alive and have not fully recovered -- is now at 581, 11 more than the previous 570.

Extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ)

Mayor Joy Belmonte said the city government implements the EECQ in barangays with two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases, and in various streets and/or in congested urban poor areas where fast transmission is most likely to occur.

However, Belmonte said this will still be subjected to daily review depending on the number of cases/recoveries.

She noted the newly reported barangays with two cases have not yet been included in the list as they are still undergoing validation.

As of 7 p.m. of April 28, the Quezon City government has implemented EECQ in the following barangays:

Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, Tatalon, Batasan Hills, Pasong Tamo, Central, San Roque, Paligsahan, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, South Triangle, Culiat, Bahay Toro, E. Rodriguez, San Isidro Labrador, Matandang Balara, Teachers Village West, Manresa, Paltok, Sto. Domingo, Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Payatas, Marilag, Socorro, Kamuning, Pinyahan, San Isidro Galas, Commonwealth, Pansol, North Fairview, Novaliches Proper, and New Era.

Hope 1 facility

As of April 28, 2020, Hope 1 has no vacancy, with 41 COVID-19 confirmed and suspected patients confined.

Hope 2 facility

During the same period, 132 rooms/beds are occupied by confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients, while 152 beds are still available in Hope 2.

Those who have been tested in the city’s community-based testing are brought to this facility for self-isolation while waiting for their results.

Community-based testing

On April 28, 188 swab tests were conducted in the city’s community-based testing centers, local government hospitals, and by the QCESU.

Of the 188 tests, 29 were done in Quezon City General Hospital, 13 in Novaliches District Hospital, 22 in Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, 19 at Quezon Memorial Circle, 12 at SB Park Novaliches, 37 at the Asian Institute of Tourism, and 56 by the QCESU.

Quarantine violators

At about 5 p.m. of April 28, 69 individuals were nabbed for violating ECQ protocols.

Social Amelioration Program (SAP)

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), assisted by the city government, has started distributing financial support to its beneficiaries under the SAP.

On April 28, Belmonte said payouts were conducted in Barangays Villa Maria Clara, Batasan Hills (partial), Culiat (partial), and South Triangle.

On Wednesday (April 29), payouts will be made in Barangays Commonwealth, Dona Aurora, Dona Josefa, and Valencia.

Previously, Belmonte said payouts were done in Barangays Commonwealth (partial), Dioquino Zobel, Escopa 4, Horseshoe, Holy Spirit, Kalusugan, Mangga, Quirino 3A, Quirino 3B, San Bartolome, San Vicente, Tagumpay, and Tatalon.

Belmonte said residents with questions or concerns about the the subsidy may email the city government at [email protected].

"Kalingang QC"

As of April 28, 47,776 beneficiaries have received P2,000 each from the city government under its financial assistance program, Kalingang QC.

Belmonte noted the recipients include persons with disability (PWDs), solo parents, senior citizens, vendors, and drivers of tricycles, pedicabs, jeepneys, taxis, and transport vehicle network services.
