Man nabbed for selling overpriced alcohol nabbed; yields loose firearm

BACOLOD CITY – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) – Negros Oriental arrested a man for allegedly selling overpriced alcohol at Barangay Poblacion 7, Tanjay City early this week.

CIDG operatives and personnel of Tanjay City Police Station conducted an entrapment operation against Baltazar Magtortor Jr., 43, of Barangay Poblacion 8.

Police recovered from him six gallons or 18 liters of Ethyl alcohol, P500 cash, P35,000 bogus money, and a cellular phone.

During the operation, law enforcers also seized from Magtortor a .45 caliber pistol with a magazine loaded with seven live ammunition and a live ammunition chamber load.

The suspect will be charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) 7581 or the Price Act in relation to violation of RA 11469 or the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.”

He will also be facing additional charges for violation of RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
