Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Friday pressed the government for details on its plans in extending the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in high-risk areas of the country.

Trillanes, over Twitter, asked for these in response to Duterte’s tirades against him Friday for criticizing his policies in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts to society.

“May lurker [pala] ako dito sa Twitter. Hehe. (Someone has been lurking on my Twitter account). But seriously, where’s [the] detailed plan up to May 15 and post-ECQ — mass testing, more efficient welfare funds delivery, economic stimulus etcetera?” he posted.

“More importantly, where’s [the] part where he’s supposed to inspire, allay fears, and give people hope?” he added.

In his taped address to the public aired Friday, Duterte lashed out at his staunchest critic and said he will order his driver to slap him on his behalf.

“Batukan mo raw ako? Sabihin ko sa driver ko sampalin ka,” he said. (You will hit me? I’ll tell my driver to slap you.)

“Ang driver ko lang ang utusan ko, hanggang diyan ka lang. Ang tingin ko sa ‘yo ka-level mo driver.”
(I’ll order my driver because you’re no better. I see you as the same level as a driver.)

He alluded to Trillanes’ April 16 tweet, when the latter mocked his statements asking for his critics’ contribution to the efforts against COVID-19.

“Four trillion ang budget mo, tapos hahanapan mo ako ng ambag? Batukan kaya kita,” Trillanes wrote.
(You have a P4-trillion budget and you ask for my contribution? What if I smack you upside the head?)

In another tweet days later, he wrote: “A good president, especially in a time of crisis, inspires and unifies the nation. He presents his vision and explains clearly his plan of action. He doesn’t joke around nor talk aimlessly, and he never threatens his own people.”

Duterte has extended the ECQ in Metro Manila and other areas across the country that are at a high risk for COVID-19 outbreak.

Regions with fewer cases will be placed under a general community quarantine after the ECQ in Luzon lapses on April 30.
