The white ribbon with blue trimmings is pinned on the left side of the chest of every policeman in the region.

Police Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, chief of PRO 7, said the donning of the white ribbon was inspired by Pope Francis’ call for solidarity, hope and community spirit as the world battles the deadly virus.

“White symbolizes purity, while blue is the theme color of the Philippine National Police (PNP). The ribbon sends us a message that we will heal and fight as one through hope, love, solidarity and protection,” said Ferro.

Ferro said policemen in the region were keeping their morale high despite the gargantuan task of helping stem the spread of the virus.

“When I go around the various checkpoints, the troops are in high spirits. They are really sincere in this enormous challenge,” said Ferro.

Ferro said the 9,000-strong PRO 7 is grateful to the local chief executives, private organizations and government agencies which donated health supplements and protective gears.

“I would like to send my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to organizations and people who have come forward to extend their helping hands in our gargantuan task to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support,” said Ferro.
