The Agusan del Norte provincial council approved the allocation of P50,000 for each of the barangays as financial aid to stop the spread of COVID-19.

“We cannot just leave the barangays alone in the fight against Covid-19,” said Agusan del Norte Governor Dale B. Corvera.

The cash aid could be used in these barangays’ anti-COVID-19 activities, including the maintenance of barangay checkpoints.

Last month, the provincial government also released P1 million in aid to each of the province's local government units (LGUs) in support of their COVID-19 containment measures.

The funds extended by the province to both the municipalities and the barangays now sum up to P19.3 million.

Aside from financial assistance, the provincial government has also supported the local government units in terms of food and other essential needs of the residents, Corvera added.
