A group of Spanish nuns has been showing off their basketball skills in their convent to pass the time during lockdown while on a break from sewing COVID-19 face masks.

Sisters at the San Leandro convent in Seville can be seen playing a quick game of basketball in what looks like a makeshift court.

The now-viral video, uploaded by Spanish journalist Alejandro Avila, shows nun in their habits running across the court and passing the ball.

“I’d never thought I’d see some cloistered nuns playing basketball. I have visited the convent of San Leandro, where their nuns have exchanged their elaboration of their famous buds for sanitary masks,” Avila wrote in Spanish.

The nuns of the San Leandro convent are known for their signature sweets. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has ended the demand for the product, with the sisters redirecting their energy to sewing face masks.
