Suspected drug peddler killed in Bulacan drug-bust; 4 others arrested

CAMP GENERAL ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan – A suspected drug peddler was killed, while four others were arrested, in separate buy-bust operations conducted by the Bulacan Police from April 18 to early morning April 19.

Based on the report submitted to Acting Bulacan Police Director Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe, the slain suspect was identified as Virgilio F. Santos, alias Jun, who was included in the drug watch list of San Rafael town this province.

San Rafael Police Chief Lt. Col. Laurente A. Acquiot reported that a buy-bust operation against Santos was conducted by the Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit (MDEU) in Barangay Caingin bypass road at about 10:45 p.m. on April 18.

After the transaction was completed, the suspect sensed that he was dealing with undercover police officers, and reportedly drew his gun and shot at the police-poseur buyer, prompting a backup operative to fire that resulted the suspect's death.

Police recovered one unit of Caliber .38 with serial number 47685; one unit Honda XRM Motorcycle with plate number 6116 UD and one-piece small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu.

Meanwhile, separate buy-bust operations conducted by Station Drug Enforce Units (SDEU) in towns of Bulakan and Pandi early morning April 19 resulted in the arrest of four suspects.

They were identified as Benjie Ruego Torres alias "Kalbo", 26; Edgardo De Asis Abuan, 46; Michael Eugenio Manalaysay alias "Ongkay", 41; and Anthony Ariola Hapa alias "Pusa", 21.

Recovered from the suspects during the operations were three plastic sachets of suspected shabu, nine heat-sealed transparent sachet containing suspected dried marijuana leaves and buy-bust money.

The arrested suspects and seized pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Crime Laboratory for examination.
