Alleged drug peddler killed, cop wounded in Gensan drug bust

GENERAL SANTOS CITY –  A suspected drug peddler was killed after he resisted arrest during a drug entrapment operation in this city on Sunday, April 19.

General Santos City Police Director Col. Aden Lagradante identified the slain suspect as Rhoderick Paldo, a resident of Barangay Calumpang, who reportedly engaged police intelligence operatives in a shootout after an entrapment operation along the diversion road in Barangay San Isidro.

Police Staff Sgt Clifford Randell Bayangdang sustained a bullet wound in the arm after he was shot by the suspect with a .38 caliber revolver,

Police recovered several grams of shabu from the suspect who was listed as a notorious drug dealer operating in the city.

Police said an unidentified companion of the slain suspect managed to escape onboard a motorcycle.

Lagradante said the local police command was not letting its guard down in its campaign against illegal drugs amid the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine brought about by the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
