Mega Global Corporation on Thursday said it is working to increase capacity as demand for canned goods, especially sardines, has soared during the enhance community quarantine in Luzon.
“We just started fishing last March, and stocks situation now is about three to four weeks in our inventory, but that is coming from Zamboanga,” Mega founder William Tiu Lim said in an interview with ANC.
He added that the company is having problems with shipping their products from Zamboanga City.
“Fishing sites and canning, we are slowly building up our stocks, hopefully, so we can catch up to about 70 percent to 50 percent,” Tiu said.
“Lockdown is a problem for us, we have to provide sample service to our employees, but at least there would be fewer contaminations,” he added.
He also said that the company’s plant in Valenzuela City, Metro Manila is operating in full capacity to meet the demand in the region.
“We are looking for ways and means so we can get more people coming in so capacity will be bigger,” he said.
The entire Luzon was placed under an enhanced community quarantine last March 16.
