Valenzuela City will be done testing all its suspect and probable cases for COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) by the end of the week, Mayor Rex Gatchalian said Wednesday.
“We are already halfway through our list of what they used to call persons under monitoring and persons under investigation,” Gatchalian told CNN Philippines in an interview.
Gatchalian said Valenzuela has around 550 suspect and probable cases, and they have tested over 300 individuals.
“This weekend we’ll be probably done with all 550,” he said.
Next week, the city aims to test all medical frontline workers of the public and private hospitals and their frontliners in the peace and order side. The week after, the city will test returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Valenzuela City has also inked a deal with another lab, Detoxicare Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Inc, which will help the city process its tests.
The city has an existing memorandum of agreement with The Medical City to process the city’s tests.
Gatchalian said with the joint forces of Detoxicare and The Medical City about 115 test kits can be processed in a day.
“By Saturday, we will have zero backlog already,” Gatchalian said.
