Qualified Las Piñas beneficiaries start receiving P8,000 cash subsidy

The Las Piñas City government has already started distributing cash subsidy to 67,738 qualified families affected by enhanced community quarantine.

City Social Welfare Officer Jingkie Perez said among the first recipients are 1,600 family-beneficiaries from Barangay Ilaya who each received P8,000 under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Perez said the DSWD approved a total of P541,904,000 fund for the qualified beneficiaries from 20 barangays in the city.

“Layunin po nito na magbigay ng emergency cash subsidy na nagkakahalaga ng P5,000 at P8,000 depende sa minimum wage rate ng isang region. Simula ngayong araw na ito ay makakatangap ng P8,000 ang isang kwalipikadong pamilya. (The objective of the program is provide emergency subsidy, ranging from P5,000 to P8,000, depending on the minimum wage rate of the region. Starting today, a qualified beneficiary will receive P8,000),” said Perez.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar told residents that the DWSD is responsible for the distribution of the cash subsidy.

She added that the only role of the local government, the local police, and the barangay is to ensure the orderly distribution of the emergency subsidy.
