The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday said that physical distancing should be observed even after the enhance community quarantine in Luzon ends.
“We would still maintain physical distancing every where we go. Pangalawa ho, titingnan pa rin natin yung ia-avoid pa rin natin yung mass gatherings,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in an interview on DZMM Teleradyo.
Should the lockdown be lifted on May 1 or May 2, measures implemented to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) will not totally stop as there is still a chance that the illness may recur, Vergeire said.
The health secretary added that these measures will be considered the new normal once the lockdown is lifted.
She also added that once the schools and offices reopened, these measures would also be considered.
“Makikita po natin kung magbubukas na tayo ng mga eskuwelahan. Ang mga trabaho po ba ay magiging mas flexible para magtalaga ng work-from-home arrangements,” Vergeire said.
As of Tuesday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country rose to 4,932. Of those, 315 died and 242 recovered.
The entire Luzon was placed under an enhanced community quarantine last March 16.
