LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – The provincial government of Ilocos Norte, through its Task Force Salun-at, reported that the first two confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID – 19) cases in the province have tested negative for the viral disease, based on the repeat swab tests done on them recently.
Rhona Ysabel B. Daoang, officer- in-charge of the Communications and Media Office (CMO), confirmed the report on Sunday, saying that this was based on the official announcement of Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC).
The patients are now asymptomatic and have recovered. They were discharged Sunday from the hospital.
But the patients will still have to undergo a 14-day quarantine in their homes as protocol for their full recovery from the COVID – 19 virus.
In a press statement, hospital authorities reiterated that the two patients were safe, and no longer pose a threat to the community.
With the absence of new confirmed transmission of the virus in the province for almost two weeks, the health authorities announced that they have flattened the curve and have so far contained the virus.
However, the health authorities still calling the cooperation of the residents in the campaign against COVID–19.
The residents are called to remain at home, conduct exercise, practice social distancing and wear face masks, and proper handwashing.
